NSP HOME | TATKON HOME | WHAT'S HAPPENING | RESERVE SPACE | RESOURCES | PROFESSIONAL STAFF | STUDENT STAFF TEACHING AT TATKON Our goal is to make your teaching experience at the Tatkon Center the best that it can possibly be by providing you with great classroom support, comfortable facilities and resources/programs that might enhance your extracurricular class. Audiovisual Support At the Tatkon Center, faculty are able to request, either for one class or for an entire semester, the following (pending availability):
To Request Equipment: Audiovisual equipment must be requested at least 2 business days prior to the class for which you will need it. No guarantee can be made that audiovisual equipment will be available if your request is received with less than 2 business days notification. Requests for equipment can be made:
Equipment Set Up/Take Down: Tatkon student staff will set up and take down all audiovisual equipment. Please note: if you are requesting audiovisual equipment, please plan on coming to class at least 10 minutes prior to the class start time to allow staff time to set up equipment, test your media (e.g. DVD) and confirm that it is running properly. Additionally, if you are bringing a Macintosh laptop to use with the Center's equipment, you must bring your own adaptor as we are set up for PCs only. Facilities and General Classroom Information The Tatkon Center has many comfortable spaces and is entirely wireless. Faculty often find that our spaces are great places to meet with students or other faculty members over a cup of coffee from Carol's Cafe or while grabbing a quick bite to eat. Our classrooms are well lit and air-conditioned. The seminar rooms are set up boardroom style, have white boards and are supplied with markers and erasers. Our large classroom is set up lecture style, has a large chalkboard and is supplied with chalk and erasers. If you would like to visit the room where you will be teaching prior to classes, feel free to email us at Carol_Tatkon_Center@cornell.edu to arrange a visit. Special Programs The Tatkon Center is an intellectual, cultural and drop-in center for first-year students. As such, we hold programs at the Center that support and inspire new students, pique their curiosity about the world, expose them to a wide range of experiences and provide different points of view relative to concepts they might learn in the classroom. If you would like to be notified of programmatic offerings or would like to hold a program at the Center, please email us at: Carol_Tatkon_Center@cornell.edu. If you are interested in viewing the listing of First-Year Reading Project programs, "Get Picked up at the Tatkon Center" series, or bringing your students to one of the programs, we invite you to visit: http://newstudentprograms.cornell.edu/Tatkon/thepickup.html. Additional program/service information and the Center's Calendar of Events can be found at: http://newstudentprograms.cornell.edu/Tatkon/programs.html.
